Should I worry about AC duct issues?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy rains we experienced last month, I noticed water droplets on the ceiling of my bedroom. The AC in this part of the apartment also seems to be running much louder than usual, which is strange since it’s not an extremely hot day. Given our location in Dubai and the age of our building, should I be concerned about duct issues? What signs should I look for, and would it be wise to hire professionals to inspect them?

Absolutely, you should be concerned about potential AC duct issues. In our part of the world, heavy rainfall can indeed lead to some serious problems that might go unnoticed until they worsen. In the UAE and specifically Dubai, buildings constructed before stringent modern standards may not have been designed with the same level of water resistance in mind, making them more susceptible to water ingress.

Firstly, regarding those pesky water droplets on your ceiling - this is a clear sign of an issue, particularly when it's happening after rain. Ducts that aren't properly sealed or insulated can allow moisture into the system, leading to condensation and eventually causing structural damage. In addition to the visible signs, there are other symptoms you might notice. If your AC unit is running louder than usual without any significant temperature changes outside, this could indicate a blockage in the ducts or an issue with the airflow.

Given the age of your building, it's prudent to have a professional inspection done. Local regulations and standards such as those set by the Dubai Municipality require regular maintenance for HVAC systems, especially after incidents like heavy rainfall. They recommend cleaning and inspecting ductwork annually to prevent issues like mold growth, which is particularly concerning in our climate.

Don't hesitate to contact professionals who can conduct a thorough inspection. Here at Saniservice, we offer expert services tailored specifically for the UAE market. Our team will assess your system comprehensively, ensuring everything from the ductwork to the filters are up to scratch. If you notice any of these signs or if it’s been some time since you've had your AC inspected, don't delay. Call us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for an immediate appointment.

Remember, addressing such issues early can save you from much larger repair costs down the line and ensure a comfortable living environment.
