Could poor duct cleaning cause our symptoms?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storms last month, I noticed a persistent cough and itchy eyes whenever we spend time in our living room. The windowsill right by the AC vent is covered in a layer of fine gray dust that seems to come from nowhere. My kids have also been complaining of sore throats. Could this be due to poor duct cleaning? Should I hire someone to clean the air ducts?

Hey there! It's quite possible that poor duct cleaning could be the culprit behind your symptoms. In Dubai and UAE, it’s common to experience dust storms which can carry fine particulates into our homes. These particles can accumulate in your air ducts over time, leading to a less than ideal indoor environment.

Ducts that haven’t been cleaned for several years might have built up layers of dust, mold spores, and other allergens. When the AC or heating system runs, these contaminants can be circulated through your home's ventilation system, causing issues like coughing, itchy eyes, and sore throats. The fine gray dust you mentioned on the windowsill by the AC vent is a tell-tale sign that duct cleaning might indeed be necessary.

In Dubai, we're also prone to high humidity which can lead to mold growth in poorly maintained air ducts. Mold can produce allergens and irritants that may contribute to respiratory issues and other health problems for your family.

I would definitely recommend getting a professional inspection of your HVAC system and ductwork. Companies like Saniservice who are licensed and experienced in UAE regulations will be able to assess the condition of your ducts, identify any areas where dust or mold have accumulated, and provide recommendations on cleaning methods and products that comply with local standards.

If you decide to go ahead with a professional service, make sure they're certified by reputable organizations like the Dubai Municipality. They can also check for any other issues in your HVAC system which might be contributing to poor indoor air quality.

Don't hesitate to reach out to 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com if you need a reliable partner in ensuring healthier air for your home. Early action on duct cleaning can make a huge difference in reducing allergens and improving overall indoor environmental quality!

Remember, regular maintenance is key to keeping your family healthy and comfortable. Take care!
