Is lingering smell in living room normal after cleaning?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy cleaning they did at our hotel suite a few weeks ago, I’ve been noticing that every time we return from a day out with the family, there’s an odd smell lingering in the living room. It’s not overpowering but definitely noticeable and it makes me worried about my kids breathing it in. Given how much time we spend in this area, especially after a long day out, is it normal to still detect this smell?

Is lingering smell in living room normal after cleaning?

It's understandable to be concerned about the odd smell you're noticing after your hotel suite has been cleaned. In Dubai and the UAE, it is somewhat common for a minor odor to persist for a short time after thorough cleaning due to the use of certain chemicals or natural drying processes.

However, this doesn't mean that every lingering smell is normal. The type of products used in hotels can vary widely - from disinfectants to air fresheners. In Dubai and other parts of the UAE, it's important to ensure that these substances are not harmful to residents' health. Local regulations such as those set by the Department of Economic Development (DED) require establishments like hotels to maintain a safe indoor environment for guests.

If you're worried about your kids breathing in any potential irritants, it would be wise to have an inspection done. A professional from Saniservice can help identify if there's a serious issue and recommend appropriate actions.

For now, ensure the area is well-ventilated by opening windows or using fans to air out the space. This can sometimes help dissipate any remaining odors quickly.

If the smell persists for more than a few days or becomes stronger, it’s recommended that you contact Saniservice at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection. They can conduct a thorough assessment and provide guidance on how best to address any issues.

Remember, while the smell might not be immediately harmful, ensuring a healthy indoor environment is crucial, especially for families with young children. Stay proactive about your family's health and well-being in Dubai!
