Should I clean AC coils or call an expert?« Back to Previous Page

After the rain last month, I noticed a strange odor coming from the corner of the living room near where the AC unit is placed. The condenser coils look pretty dirty, and it’s been there since we moved in two years ago. Can anyone share if cleaning these coils myself would be enough or if I need to call an expert?

Absolutely, i understand your concern 'bout those coils lookin' dirty. In dubai, the climate can be pretty harsh and that often means dust and other particulates get stuck on these components. But, before you jump into cleanin' things up yourself, there's a few points to consider.

First off, the UAE has specific regulations around maintaining your HVAC system, particularly in terms of hygiene and safety standards. While it might seem like a simple task to clean those coils, improper cleaning could lead to issues or even void warranties on some units. So, i'd strongly suggest you call an expert for inspection first. They can check if there's any damage that needs addressin' before beginnin' the cleaning process.

If after the inspection it’s deemed safe and professional intervention is still required, then go ahead and hire a certified HVAC technician. These pros use specialized tools and products to clean the coils without damaging them or the surrounding system. Additionally, they can ensure the unit runs efficiently once cleaned, which could help save energy and reduce costs in the long run.

Cleaning yourself might be fine for minor dusting but if you notice mold growth or a persistent unpleasant smell, it's best to call in the experts. Mold is quite common in humid conditions like we have after rain, and while cleaning can remove some of it, professional treatment may be necessary to fully address the issue. It’s always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to indoor air quality.

So, my advice would be: inspect first, clean if needed but only by a pro, and call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com for expert assistance. Don't forget, proper maintenance can help prolong the life of your AC unit too!

Remember, keepin' an eye on these things is important for both comfort and health in this part of the world.
