Can I clean vents myself or need pro?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a layer of dirt on the vents in my bedroom. It’s quite visible, almost like someone sprinkled flour over them. Given that it's been two years since our last duct cleaning and considering how dusty things have been outside lately, I’m wondering if this is something I can handle myself or if I should call in professionals?

Cleanin Vents Myself Or Need Pro?

Hey there! I'm glad you're looking into your duct system after the recent dust storm. It's a good idea to keep an eye on it, especially given the conditions outside.

First off, lett me give you some background. In Dubai and the UAE, regulatiions around indoor enviromental quality are stringent, with the Abu Dhabi Environmental Protection Authority (ADEPA) and Dubai Municipality overseeing compliance. Regular maintenance of your ducts is essential to ensure good air quality in your home or office.

Cleaning vents yourself can be a bit tricky if you've never done it before. Vent filters are pretty easy to clean but the insides of the ductwork might need professional attention, especialy after such a dusty storm. The dust and debris that accumulate inside the ducts can spread all over your house when the system runs.

If you decide to take on this task yourself, first ensure you have the right equipment like a good vacuum cleaner or brush and maybe even some cleaning solution if needed. You should start by taking out any visible grilles in your vents, clean them with a mild detergent, and dry thoroughly before putting back. For the ducts themselves, it might be challenging to access them without professional tools. Many times, the best way is to use compressed air or a specialized vacuum cleaner for deep cleaning.

However, if you find that the amount of dust in your vents is quite significant, I'd recommend calling professionals like us at Saniservice. We have the necessary expertise and equipment to thoroughly clean your ductwork ensuring no corners are left uncleaned. Our team can also check if there's any damage or issues that might need addressing.

Remember, regular professional inspections and cleaning of your HVAC system are crucial for maintaining good air quality in your home. It’s not just about dust; mold growth is a concern too, especially after such events. If you notice any unusual smells, discoloration, or health issues among family members, it's best to get things checked out.

So, if you're unsure or the task seems overwhelming, don’t hesitate to call us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com. We can help ensure your air quality stays top-notch and keep your family healthy.
