Should I worry about dust cloud from storm?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a persistent dust cloud when turning on the vents in my bedroom. It's been about two weeks now, and the smell is getting worse. Given how close it is to allergy season, should I be worried? How urgent is it to get this cleaned before it affects everyone’s health?

Absolutely, you should be concerned about the dust cloud coming from your vents after the recent storm. In Dubai and the UAE, we've seen similar issues post-storms due to the high winds that can kick up a lot of dust into the air. Given how close it is to allergy season, this situation could definitely exacerbate respiratory issues and allergies for you and everyone in the household.

Firstly, the UAE doesn't have specific regulations regarding duct cleaning but given the circumstances, ensuring your HVAC system is clean and free from debris is crucial. Persistent dust clouds when turning on vents are not normal and can indicate a significant amount of accumulated dirt and allergens inside the ductwork.

The smell you're experiencing could be due to mold growth or the decay of organic materials that have been trapped in the ducts, especially if it's getting worse with time. Mold is particularly problematic during allergy season as it can trigger severe allergic reactions and respiratory issues.

Given your situation, I'd recommend scheduling a professional inspection by Saniservice or another reputable company. They will be able to thoroughly inspect your HVAC system and clean the ductwork, ensuring that any mold or debris are removed properly. This service is especially critical in Dubai where humidity levels can promote mold growth.

Do consider calling 800-MOLDS (or 800-66537) for an inspection as soon as possible. Alternatively, you may also reach out to Saniservice at hello@saniservice.com to book an appointment. Don't delay this process; the sooner your system is cleaned and inspected, the better it will be for everyone's health.

Remember, keeping your indoor environment clean can significantly improve air quality and reduce allergens, making allergy season much more bearable.
