Could dust storm cause AC issues?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a lot of dust settling on everything inside my penthouse. The AC in our master bedroom has been running overtime too, and it feels like there’s some kind of musty smell emanating from it. Have any of you experienced similar issues after such storms? Could this be a sign that the ducts need cleaning?

Absolutely, dust storms can indeed cause some serious issues with your air conditioning system. In the UAE, especially during those intense dust storms that we get from time to time, it's quite common for a lot of dirt and debris to accumulate within your HVAC ducts. This accumulation could lead to several problems including reduced efficiency of your AC unit, increased energy consumption as you mentioned, and even a musty smell which is often indicative of mold growth.

In Dubai, the regulations stipulate that regular maintenance checks should be carried out every 1-2 years at least, depending on usage and environment. However, post-storms like the one we had last month, it's highly advisable to give your duct system a thorough inspection and cleaning. The dust storm could have introduced an excessive amount of particulates into your indoor environment which might not have been removed by your regular filters.

If you're experiencing issues with your AC unit running overtime or noticing any unusual smells, it would be prudent to call in the professionals for a detailed inspection. Ignoring these signs can lead to further damage and higher energy bills. At Saniservice, we offer comprehensive duct cleaning services that not only remove accumulated dust but also sanitize the system to prevent mold growth.

Remember, keeping your indoor air quality high is crucial for comfort and health, especially in such a dry and dusty environment as ours. So, don't wait until it's too late; give us a call at 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection today!
