Should I clean after rain or hire pros?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy rain we had last month, I noticed a lot of dust and debris accumulating in our balcony and courtyard. The carpets in the living room also seem to have more dirt than usual. Given that it's getting colder and we won’t be able to air out the house as much, should I consider hiring professional cleaning staff or is there a cost-effective way to manage this myself?

Absolutely, cleaning after rain is crucial to maintaining the indoor environmental quality of your home. Given the recent weather and the accumulation of dust and debris you've noticed, it's a wise decision to either tackle this yourself or consider professional assistance.

In Dubai and other parts of the UAE, it’s not uncommon for heavy rains to lead to an increase in household dirt and potentially mold growth if proper measures aren't taken. As an expert in indoor environmental quality, I recommend that you first assess the situation. If there's any suspicion of water damage or mold growth, a professional inspection is highly recommended. Call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com for a quick and reliable assessment.

If your situation doesn’t require such an inspection, it’s perfectly fine to start cleaning yourself. However, given the current climate in Dubai which is moving into colder months, you might find that hiring professional cleaning staff could be more cost-effective and efficient. Professional cleaners have the tools and expertise needed to ensure thorough cleaning, especially in hard-to-reach areas like balconies and courtyards.

For those who wish to clean on their own, here are some tips:
• Start by clearing out any visible debris from your balcony and courtyard. This might include leaves, twigs, and other outdoor detritus that could have been brought inside.
• Dust and vacuum the carpets in the living room thoroughly. Consider using a steam cleaner for deep cleaning, especially if you notice more dirt than usual.
• Don’t forget to clean high and hard-to-reach areas which are often missed during regular cleaning routines.

While DIY cleaning can be cost-effective, it’s important to ensure that your efforts don’t inadvertently cause further issues like water damage or mold growth. If you're unsure about the best approach, consulting with a professional is always an option.

Remember, keeping your home clean and free of contaminants not only enhances indoor air quality but also contributes to your overall health and comfort. So, whether you choose to do it yourself or hire pros, make sure the job gets done properly.
