Who cleans restaurant areas in rentals?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a lot more dust on every surface, including inside the kitchen cabinets. It’s making me wonder if it’s my responsibility to clean the restaurant area or if the landlord is supposed to take care of that part. The cabinets under the bar are particularly dusty and could do with some attention. Who’s responsible for cleaning the restaurant in a rental property?

Cleaning restaurant areas in rentals can be a bit of an enigma especially post-a sandstorms like the one we experienced. Depending on local laws and the terms of your lease agreement, it might be your responsibility or that of the landlord.
In the UAE, particularly in Dubai, there's no specific law mandating who is responsible for cleaning restaurant spaces. However, the tenant usually signs a lease agreement with certain obligations. This document should clarify responsibilities between you and the landlord regarding maintenance and cleanliness. If this isn’t clear, it’s wise to review your contract or consult a legal expert. Typically, tenants are expected to keep their premises clean and in good condition for health and safety reasons. Dusty cabinets under the bar could be a concern for hygiene standards. It's advisable to check with local health regulations which require cleanliness to prevent food contamination and ensure customer satisfaction. If you find yourself overwhelmed by dust or if there seem to be more serious issues, consider hiring a professional inspection service. At Saniservice, we offer comprehensive environmental inspections that can help identify potential problems and suggest solutions. Our team can assess the condition of your restaurant’s interior, including those hard-to-reach cabinets, and recommend cleaning and maintenance strategies.
