Is strange smell in hallway due to maintenance issues?« Back to Previous Page

After the rain last month, I noticed a strange smell lingering in the hallway near my bedroom. My landlord has been pretty tight-lipped about maintenance tasks, so I’m not sure if it’s my responsibility to clean the ducts or if they should be handled by someone else. Has anyone had experience with this situation in Dubai?

It sounds like you've been experiencing some concerning symptoms and i understand your concerns. A lingering smell near the hallway of your apartment is definitely something to take seriously, especially after a rainfall event. In the UAE, particularly in Dubai, humidity levels can exacerbate issues within HVAC systems.

Ductwork can accumulate moisture and debris over time, leading to mold growth which could be the source of that strange odor you're detecting. Mold can flourish when there's excess moisture, and unfortunately, it thrives in warm, humid environments like those found in Dubai during certain times of the year.

Given your situation, i would recommend getting a professional inspection done right away. In the UAE, especially in Dubai, there are specific regulations regarding indoor air quality and building maintenance that you should be aware of. The Building Maintenance Regulations stipulate that regular checks on HVAC systems must be carried out to ensure they're functioning properly and not causing any adverse effects.

You may want to reach out to a professional environmental inspection company like ours at Saniservice. We can conduct a thorough assessment of your ductwork and identify any issues, including mold growth or other contaminants. Our team will also provide recommendations on how to address the problem effectively. Remember, early detection is key in preventing more severe health issues that could arise from prolonged exposure to indoor pollutants.

Additionally, i would suggest keeping an eye out for other signs like discoloration of your air vents, increased allergy symptoms among family members, or visible mold growth inside ductwork during a professional inspection. If you notice any of these signs, it's crucial to address them promptly.

To contact us directly, give us a call at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or drop us an email at hello@saniservice.com. We are here to assist and ensure that your living environment is safe and healthy.
