Should I clean AC ducts myself or hire a pro?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a lot of dust collecting on all the surfaces in my bedroom. The AC unit in there has been running non-stop to keep up with the heat, but it’s not as effective as usual. Given that this is our second summer in the UAE and we haven’t cleaned the ducts yet, should I attempt to do it myself or would it be better to hire a professional?

Cleaning AC ducts is a vital part of maintaining the efficiency and hygiene of your air conditioning system, especially in hot climates like Dubai's. After that recent dust storm, it’s understandable to want to ensure the quality of indoor air and prevent any lingering issues from affecting your home or health.

In the UAE, regulations regarding HVAC systems are stringent to ensure high standards of indoor environmental quality (IEQ). However, specific guidelines on duct cleaning might not be as detailed. That said, given the severity of the dust storm we experienced and considering this is our second summer in Dubai, it’s wise to evaluate whether you should tackle this yourself or hire a professional.

DIY efforts can seem cost-effective but may not always achieve optimal results. Professional duct cleaners have specialized tools and expertise that ensure thorough cleaning without causing damage to your system. They are also trained to recognize issues such as mold growth, which can be harmful if left unchecked. In the UAE, it’s common for professionals to offer services like moisture testing, which is crucial in a climate prone to humidity.

If you do decide to go ahead with a professional, consider calling 800-MOLDS or emailing hello@saniservice.com. These experts will not only clean your ducts but also inspect them for any signs of damage or contamination that might need attention beyond simple cleaning. They’ll ensure that your air conditioning system operates at peak performance and delivers cleaner air to your home.

In addition, regular maintenance is key in the UAE’s climate. A professional inspection and cleaning every 1-2 years can significantly extend the lifespan of your HVAC system while keeping your indoor environment healthier.

Remember, when it comes to your health and comfort, taking a proactive approach with professional help might be the best route. So, give us a call or drop them an email to get started on making sure your home’s air is as fresh and clean as possible after that storm!
