Should I replace AC filter myself or hire someone?« Back to Previous Page

After the rain last month, I noticed a bit of mold growing around the air conditioning unit outside our balcony. The AC filter in that area has never seemed to be replaced since we moved in almost two years ago. Given the recent dampness, I’m thinking it might be time for a replacement, but I’m not sure if I should do it myself or hire someone. What would you recommend?

Hey there! Replacing your AC filter is an important task to ensure the efficiency of your air conditioning system and maintain indoor air quality. Considering the conditions you described – dampness from recent rain and mold growth around the outdoor unit – it might be wise to take a more thorough approach than just changing the filter.

Firstly, i'd recommend calling in a professional for this job. In dubai, the regulations surrounding HVAC systems can get quite specific, particularly with regards to the maintenance of equipment installed outdoors where there's been moisture exposure. A certified technician will not only replace your filter but also inspect other parts of your system that might have been affected by the rain.

For instance, they'll check for water damage in the unit and ensure all seals are intact to prevent further issues. The professional can also advise on whether any repairs or additional maintenance are necessary due to the recent dampness situation.

DIY replacement is certainly possible, but given how integral your HVAC system is to comfort and health in this climate, it might be a better use of time and resources to have someone with the right skills and tools do it. This way, you can rest assured that everything's up to standard – not just the filter!

If you decide to go the professional route, i'd encourage you to reach out to us at 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com. We specialize in environmental inspections and remediation services and are here to help keep your home safe and healthy.

Remember, maintaining a clean AC filter isn't just about saving money on utility bills; it's also crucial for preventing the spread of mold spores which can be hazardous to health, especially during humid seasons like this one. So don’t hesitate – take care of that air filter!

P.s: did you know that regular maintenance can actually extend the lifespan of your AC unit and improve its performance? It’s a small investment with big returns!
