Could mold from the ceiling be affecting my family?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy rains we had last month, I noticed a strange mold growing on the ceiling of our bedroom. The AC in the hallway has been running more than usual too, which is unusual for this time of year. My kids have also been complaining of coughing fits lately and it just doesn't feel right. Could this be related to the mold? What should I do about it?

Absolutely could be. Mold growth can indeed pose serious health concerns and the symptoms your family is experiencing such as coughing fits may very well correlate to mold exposure.

Mold spores can spread through air conditioning systems, especially if not properly maintained or if there's an ongoing moisture issue in the building. In Dubai, post-rain events like we had recently can create ideal conditions for mold growth, particularly in areas with high humidity and stagnant airflow. The unusual operation of your AC could indicate a problem within the system itself that might need to be addressed.

First steps should include checking other parts of the house for moisture damage or visible signs of mold such as discoloration on walls, ceilings, or floors. Keep an eye out too for musty odors, which can often precede visible growth.

Given your concerns and the potential health risks, I'd highly recommend contacting a professional environmental inspection company to assess the situation. In Dubai, you could reach out to Saniservice at 800-MOLDS or email them at hello@saniservice.com for a thorough evaluation.

They will use their expertise in mold systems to determine if there's an active infestation and what measures need to be taken to remediate the situation. Remember, when dealing with mold, it’s crucial to address it promptly to prevent further health issues.

Taking these steps can help ensure your family remains healthy during such weather conditions.
