What's the best AC filter schedule for Dubai dust?« Back to Previous Page

My villa in Al Barsha has started to feel dusty all the time, even just a day after the cleaners have been. I’m wiping down surfaces constantly and I’m worried the sand is getting into the AC system. What’s the most effective maintenance schedule for cleaning or replacing the AC filters to stop this from happening?

AC filters in Dubai villas should be cleaned or replaced every 4-6 weeks due to our high ambient dust levels and year-round AC operation. For heavy-use systems or during frequent sandstorms, a 3-week schedule is more effective at maintaining air quality and protecting the AC unit from strain.

The constant dust you describe suggests your current filter maintenance is insufficient for the particulate load. Standard fiberglass filters trap larger sand particles but let finer dust through; upgrading to a higher MERV-rated pleated filter can capture more of the fine dust that settles on surfaces. Ensure the filter is properly sealed in its housing, as gaps allow dusty air to bypass the filter entirely.

Beyond filter changes, the system itself may need attention. Dust accumulation on the evaporator coils or in the ductwork can continuously recirculate particles. If frequent filter changes don't resolve the issue, a professional inspection of the internal components is the next logical step to identify if a deeper cleaning is required. For a villa in Al Barsha, this is a common scenario.
