What is the cost to clean or re-grout bathroom tiles?« Back to Previous Page

The grout between the floor tiles in my Jumeirah villa's main bathroom has gone from light grey to almost black, no matter how much I scrub it. I think the humidity from our showers has caused some serious mold, and I'm worried it's unhealthy for my family. What’s the typical price range for professional grout cleaning or re-grouting for a standard-sized bathroom here, and is it a job I should even attempt myself with products from ACE?

Dark grey to black grout in a humid bathroom is almost certainly a persistent mould colony, a common issue in Dubai due to high ambient humidity that gets trapped indoors. This is a health concern as it can aggravate allergies and respiratory conditions.

For a standard bathroom, professional cleaning with specialized antimicrobial agents is often the first step. The cost for this service is typically less than a full re-grouting job. Complete re-grouting, which involves removing the old contaminated grout and replacing it, is a more invasive and expensive solution but is the only permanent fix if the mould has penetrated deeply.

Attempting a DIY clean with products from ACE can be effective for surface mildew but often fails against entrenched growth. The humidity here means it will likely return quickly unless the root moisture issue and the biological contamination are both addressed. For a case as advanced as you describe, a professional assessment is strongly recommended to determine the extent of the problem. Reputable providers use methods that not only clean but also apply treatments to inhibit regrowth, and they can identify if faulty sealing or ventilation is the underlying cause. Always request a detailed assessment and quote rather than a flat rate, as the scope of work can vary significantly.
