Can cleaning ducts help my kids' symptoms?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I’ve noticed a lot of dust settling on furniture and floors. My kids have been complaining about itchy eyes and coughing since then, especially in our living room where we spend most of our time. Given how long it's been since we last cleaned the ducts, I’m really worried it might be causing their symptoms. Has anyone had similar issues or knows if cleaning the ducts can help?

Absolutely, cleaning the ducts can indeed help your kids' symptoms. In dubai and the uae, we often experience dust storms which can lead to an accumulation of particles like dust, pollen, and other allergens in our air conditioning systems. These particles get circulated throughout the house via the ventilation system, leading to discomfort for those with allergies or respiratory issues.

In your case, it sounds like your kids might be experiencing symptoms due to these airborne irritants. Regular duct cleaning is highly recommended as a part of maintaining good indoor environmental quality and can significantly reduce dust levels in your home. Ducts that haven’t been cleaned in years can accumulate substantial amounts of dirt, mold spores, and other pollutants which can aggravate respiratory issues.

UAE regulations for duct cleaning aren't strictly enforced but it’s crucial to ensure that the service provider is reputable and uses proper techniques. You should look for companies that use negative air pressure systems during cleaning to prevent dust from spreading through your home.

Before you schedule a professional inspection, there are a few steps you can take at home:
• Use a portable air purifier in their room.
• Encourage regular hand washing and nasal rinsing if they have symptoms.
• Keep pets out of the bedroom if they spend time there.

However, for a thorough solution, it would be wise to call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com. They can conduct an inspection to determine the extent of the problem and recommend a cleaning plan that suits your needs.

Remember, while duct cleaning is beneficial, maintaining good indoor air quality involves regular maintenance such as changing filters in your HVAC system, keeping humidity levels low (ideally between 30% - 50%), and ensuring proper ventilation. This multi-faceted approach will help keep the air clean not just after a dust storm but all year round.

Hope this helps and your kids feel better soon!
