Can I handle dust from sandstorm myself?« Back to Previous Page

After the recent sandstorm that hit Dubai, I’ve noticed a thick layer of dust settling on everything in my living room. Even with constant cleaning, it seems to come back almost immediately. The AC filter is also getting clogged up really fast, which isn’t helping. Do you think I can manage this myself or should I consider professional help?

Managing desert dust from sandstorms can indeed be quite the challenge. In Dubai and other parts of the UAE, we experience these storms frequently due to our geographical location. The recent one you mentioned has certainly left a layer of dust almost everywhere – even on AC filters!

Firstly, it's important to know that while some light cleaning efforts are manageable for individuals, the frequency and intensity of sandstorms in Dubai can make DIY cleanup more difficult than expected. This is especially true if you're dealing with persistent issues like your AC filter clogging up very quickly.

The good news is there are steps you can take before considering professional assistance:

1. Enhance Your Cleaning Routine: Use a microfiber cloth or damp sponge to gently remove dust from surfaces, which can trap more particles than dry cloths. For hard-to-reach areas like behind furniture and in corners, a long-handled duster might be useful.

2. Use HEPA Filters: These filters are particularly effective at capturing fine particles that regular filters may miss. Consider installing them on your air conditioning or ventilation system to help keep indoor air cleaner.

3. Increase Humidity Levels: Dust can settle more easily in low-humidity environments, so running a humidifier might help reduce the amount of dust floating around.

4. Regular Maintenance Checks: Inspect and clean your AC unit regularly. This includes changing filters often, which you've already noted as an issue!

However, if these steps do not bring significant improvement or if the dust levels are affecting your health (like causing breathing issues), it would be wise to consider a professional inspection. Local regulations might require certain levels of indoor air quality in commercial buildings but residential areas don't have such strict standards, so while you're not legally obligated, ensuring the best possible air quality can enhance your comfort and well-being.

If you find that dust management is becoming too overwhelming or if you suspect there's a more serious underlying issue like mold growth due to excessive moisture from cleaning efforts, please do call us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for professional advice and assistance.

Remember, in the UAE, we're no strangers to dust storms. Keeping your home clean can be a year-round effort here, but with the right tools and tips, you can manage it effectively.
