Could AC causing mold smell and health issues?« Back to Previous Page

Since we moved into our new apartment in Downtown Dubai a couple of months ago, I’ve noticed an odd, lingering smell every time someone turns on the AC. The kids have been complaining about their throats feeling scratchy lately, too. We’re worried it might be due to mold or dust build-up from the air ducts. Have anyone here had similar issues and what did you do about it?

Absolutely could be! In the UAE, particularly in Dubai where we experience such high humidity and temperature fluctuations, mold growth can indeed occur within air ducts. This is especially true if there's any condensation or dampness build-up inside the duct system. The smell you're experiencing might actually be a tell-tale sign of mold decomposition.

In your case, it’s crucial to get the air ducts inspected by professionals who are well-versed with local regulations such as those set out in the UAE Environmental Health Regulations. These guidelines are stringent and aim at maintaining high standards of indoor environmental quality which is essential for residents' health, particularly in large buildings like apartments.

The scratchy throats your kids have been experiencing could be linked to this issue since mold spores can irritate the respiratory system. It’s recommended that you act promptly to address this potential problem.

Call 800-MOLDS or 800-66537 or email hello@saniservice.com for a professional inspection and cleaning service. They will thoroughly examine your ducts, remove any mold growth, and ensure proper ventilation to prevent future issues.

Remember, regular maintenance of air conditioning systems is key in preventing such problems. After the cleaning process, make sure to follow up with a filter replacement and system check-ups as recommended by professionals. This not only addresses current concerns but also helps maintain good indoor air quality moving forward.

Taking these steps can greatly improve your family's comfort and health while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
