Could duct cleaning solve our allergy issues?« Back to Previous Page

Since we moved into our new apartment a few months ago, I’ve noticed a persistent dustiness in the air, especially when the AC is on full blast. My kids have been complaining of itchy eyes and coughing more frequently than usual, which has really got me worried. The vents are located right next to my children’s bedroom. Has anyone else experienced similar issues or know if regular duct cleaning could help?

Absolutely, duct cleaning could be a step that might alleviate your concerns about allergies and the dustiness you've noticed. In the UAE, especially in Dubai, where we experience high temperatures and humidity during summer months, it's quite common to see an increase in dust and allergens within our homes. The presence of vents right next to your children’s bedroom could indeed be a source of irritation for them.

In recent years, there have been several studies indicating that dusty air can worsen allergy symptoms, particularly in young children. Regular duct cleaning is recommended to help reduce the amount of dust, mold spores, and other allergens circulating through your home's HVAC system. The Dubai Municipality has guidelines in place regarding indoor environmental quality which indirectly support the importance of maintaining clean ductwork for overall air quality.

For a thorough inspection, it would be wise to contact a professional service provider such as Saniservice who can assess the current condition of your ducts and recommend appropriate cleaning or remediation steps. They will use specialized equipment to inspect the inside of your duct system, identify any sources of contamination, and clean them effectively.

Regular maintenance is key in preventing issues like the ones you're experiencing. It's recommended that you schedule a professional inspection every 1-2 years depending on the usage and environment of your home. Additionally, keeping your HVAC filters clean can also help reduce allergens in the air.

To take proactive steps, ensure that your children’s bedroom is equipped with a good quality air purifier as an additional layer of protection against airborne particles. Opening windows when possible to allow fresh air flow could also be beneficial during cooler months or early mornings and evenings.

Remember, if symptoms persist after cleaning or worsen, it might indicate the presence of more serious issues like mold growth which require immediate attention from professionals.

So, don't hesitate to give us a call at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or send an email to hello@saniservice.com for a detailed consultation.
