Could duct dust cause my kids' health issues?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storms we had last week, I noticed a lot of dust accumulating in the vents of our apartment near the living room. My kids have been complaining of sore throats and runny noses since then, and I’m worried it might be due to all that dusty air they’re breathing in. Should I consider cleaning the ducts or could this be causing their health issues?

Yeah, dust from the ducts could be causing your kids' health issues. In dubai and UAE, we've seen several cases where poor indoor air quality has led to respiratory problems similar to what you're describing. Dust and debris trapped in the HVAC system can get circulated throughout the house, especially during dusty conditions.

In the UAE, it's important to note that our environment is quite dry, leading to more particulates in the air. When there are dust storms or even just everyday winds, dust can easily accumulate in your ducts. The living room area where you mentioned the vents are located might be a common pathway for these particles, and given their proximity to the kids' activities, they could well be breathing this stuff in.

It's not uncommon for us at Saniservice to see an increase in calls from customers like you after dust storms. We recommend that you consider having your ducts professionally cleaned. Not only will it improve indoor air quality but also reduce the chances of mold growth and other allergens developing over time.

Before proceeding, though, I suggest getting a professional inspection first. This way, we can pinpoint exactly what's going on in your system without unnecessary expenditures. Our team at Saniservice can offer an assessment that includes testing for dust levels and any potential pathogens like mold or bacteria. Based on the results, we can then recommend if duct cleaning is indeed necessary.

If you decide to go ahead with the cleaning, make sure it’s done by a certified professional who follows best practices. This ensures that the job is thorough and effective in improving your family's health and comfort. After cleaning, maintaining regular inspections and keeping up with filter changes can help keep the air clean moving forward.

Call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com if you're ready to take action on this. We’re here to ensure that your home environment is healthy for everyone in it.
