Could dusty smell be from ductwork issues?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a persistent dusty smell lingering in our living room. It’s so strange because we always keep the windows closed during such weather. The kids have been complaining of itchy eyes too, and I’m worried it might be related to the ductwork. Has anyone else experienced this issue or should I call a professional for a thorough cleaning?

Absolutely could be! After the recent dust storm, it's not unusual to see some lingering effects especially concerning indoor air quality. In Dubai and other parts of UAE, we have seen similar cases where a dusty smell persists even when windows are kept shut due to closed-off ductwork not expelling all the dust properly.

In your case, given that the kids are experiencing itchy eyes too, it's crucial to address this as soon as possible. Ducts can indeed harbor allergens and pollutants which might contribute to respiratory issues or other health complaints in children. In fact, according to the UAE Environmental Health Regulations, regular maintenance of HVAC systems including duct cleaning is highly recommended especially after such severe weather conditions.

I would definitely recommend a professional inspection of your ductwork. At times, even with visible dust being cleaned from exterior surfaces, internal ducts can still be filled with unseen particles that contribute to poor indoor air quality. The Saniservice team here in Dubai has helped many families identify and resolve similar issues. They have state-of-the-art equipment for thoroughly cleaning the ductwork ensuring no debris remains behind.

For peace of mind and effective results, don't hesitate to call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com . A professional will be able to assess your specific situation and provide a detailed plan for remediation. Remember, keeping your indoor environment clean is vital not just in terms of comfort but also health.

Hope this helps!
