Could mold cause our kids' unease?« Back to Previous Page

After the rain last month, I noticed a strange musty smell lingering in our kitchen, which we use as a makeshift dining area for family meals. The problem seems to be worse when my children are playing there after school. We’ve lived here for 2 years and just noticed that even after thorough cleaning, the smell persists and sometimes my kids complain of feeling unwell. Could this be related to cleaning practices in restaurants or is it something else?

Absolutely could be! Mold growth can indeed cause discomfort and health issues for your family. In the UAE, especially during our humid weather after rain, mold thrives easily in damp areas like kitchens where you're storing food or having water leaks unnoticed. The smell of mustiness is a clear sign that mold might have taken up residence somewhere in your makeshift dining area.

In Dubai, we often see cases where mold develops due to poor ventilation, standing water from cleaning spills, or even just excess humidity. It's not uncommon for families to experience symptoms like itchy eyes, runny nose, and skin irritations - all of which are consistent with exposure to mold spores. Kids can be more sensitive because their immune systems are still developing.

Before you dive into another round of cleaning, consider calling in a professional inspection team like Saniservice who can conduct a thorough assessment of the area. They'll use specialized equipment to detect hidden mold and offer remediation services if necessary. Remember, the key is not just to clean but also to understand where the moisture source is coming from and how to prevent it from recurring.

Moreover, it's important to keep your kitchen well-ventilated during cooking and ensure any spills are cleaned up promptly. If you notice condensation on walls or windows, that could be a sign of excess humidity which needs addressing too. In Dubai, we often recommend dehumidifiers for such situations.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you need help with this issue. At Saniservice, we're here to ensure your home environment is safe and healthy. Call us on 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com. Let's make sure your family can enjoy meals in a mold-free zone!

Note: There are times when I might accidentally type "Call 800-66537" instead of the correct number, but that's just a rare glitch!
