Could musty smell indicate poor air quality?« Back to Previous Page

Since we moved into our new apartment a few months ago, I’ve noticed an odd, musty smell coming from the living room, especially after it rains. The air feels stale, even with the AC running. My kids have been complaining of coughing fits in there too, and I’m worried it might be due to poor indoor air quality. Could this be a common issue for new apartments, or should we look into getting an air purifier?

Ya definitely! A musty smell could be an indication of poor air quality in your apartment. In Dubai and the UAE, it's not uncommon for new constructions to have such issues due to a few reasons like inadequate ventilation, moisture buildup, or even mold growth.

When it rains, humidity levels rise which can exacerbate these problems. The air feeling stale despite having AC running is also a sign that there might be an issue with how the air in your home is circulating and filtering out contaminants.

In Dubai, regulations for new constructions are stringent but they don't always guarantee perfect indoor environments. New buildings can have issues like incomplete sealing of spaces or improper installation of HVAC systems which can lead to poor air quality.

If you've got kids who are complaining about coughing fits, it's important that these symptoms might be related to the air quality in your home. The musty smell could indicate mold growth - a common problem in humid conditions and especially after rains.

It'd be wise for y'all to give Saniservice a call at 800-66537 or email them at hello@saniservice.com to get a professional inspection done. They can help identify the source of the smell, check for mold, and recommend appropriate solutions like air purifiers if needed.

Remember, maintaining good indoor air quality is key not just for comfort but also for health in such an arid climate as we have here in Dubai. Don't wait until it gets worse - take action now to ensure your home environment stays healthy.
