Dusty AC and sinus issues: need duct cleaning in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my apartment in Jumeirah Park has been making a really dusty smell every time it kicks on, and for the last month, my sinuses have been constantly blocked. I can actually see a fine layer of dust settling on the furniture just a day after cleaning. We've been in this villa for almost three years and I don't think the ducts have ever been cleaned. Is this level of dust normal for Dubai, or should I be looking for a professional duct cleaning service to help with these allergies?

Based on your description, this is definitely not normal and points directly to contaminated air ducts. The extreme dust load in Dubai, combined with high humidity and constant AC use, creates a perfect environment for dust, mold, and microbial growth to accumulate inside your ductwork. When the AC kicks on, it blows all of that debris right into your living space, which is exactly what's causing your sinus issues and the constant dust settling.

For a villa that's three years old without a cleaning, a significant buildup is almost guaranteed. The UAE's DEWA regulations and building codes emphasize maintaining indoor air quality, and neglected ducts are a major violation of that.

You absolutely need a professional duct cleaning service. However, a word of caution: many companies offer cheap "cleaning" that just pushes the dust around. You need a company that uses truck-mounted HEPA-filtered vacuum systems and agitation tools to properly remove all contaminants, not just dislodge them.

Given your allergy symptoms, I strongly recommend you call for a professional inspection. They can use borescope cameras to assess the level of contamination inside the ducts and recommend the correct remediation process.
