How can we prevent dust buildup on balcony plants during Ramadan?« Back to Previous Page

After the recent dust storm, I’ve noticed a lot of dust settling on all the surfaces in our balcony, especially on the indoor plants. It’s not something we usually have to deal with since it’s an open area, but this time there was so much that even the windowsills are covered. How can we prevent such a buildup from happening again during Ramadan when we might spend more time outside?

Cleaning Ramadan can indeed be challenging due to the dust storms and other environmental factors. In Dubai/UAE, we often experience such conditions that can lead to a build-up of dust on outdoor plants during this period.

Firstly, it’s vital to maintain regular cleaning routines for your balcony area. Use a soft cloth or microfiber duster to gently remove dust from plant leaves and windowsills daily. Avoid using water as it may cause the soil to become soggy, especially with succulents and cacti that prefer dry conditions.

Another effective method is to use compressed air or a vacuum cleaner set on a low setting to blow away accumulated dust. This can be done by tilting plants slightly so that you can reach all surfaces effectively without damaging them.

In terms of prevention, consider installing screens or nets over your balcony area. These can act as a barrier against dust and other particles while still allowing sufficient light for plant growth. You could opt for lightweight netting if aesthetics are important to you, as these are generally easy to install and remove when not needed.

For professional assistance, it's advisable to call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com. Our team can provide a thorough inspection and recommend custom solutions that fit your specific needs and the unique climate of Dubai.

Remember, indoor plants during Ramadan require extra care due to increased exposure to outdoor elements. Keep an eye on their health by ensuring they receive appropriate sunlight but are not in direct heat from the sun. Water them only when necessary, checking the soil moisture level before doing so.

By implementing these strategies and staying vigilant about your plant’s environment, you can minimize dust buildup and ensure a healthy, dust-free balcony throughout Ramadan.
