Is construction dust normal and excessive?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy construction work started next door two months ago, we've noticed a constant layer of fine dust settling on furniture and surfaces in our living room. The windows were closed most of the time to keep out noise, but now that I'm trying to clean, it seems like there’s more dust than usual. Is this normal during construction, or could there be something else going on?

Construction dust is indeed quite common and often part of the construction process, especially in areas like Dubai where building activities are frequent. However, what you're experiencing sounds a bit excessive.
In the UAE, particularly in Dubai, there are regulations concerning dust management during construction projects. According to the Municipality's Building Regulations, contractors are required to take measures to minimize dust and debris at their sites. This can include using barriers, water suppression systems, and regular cleaning of the site. The amount of dust you're noticing could be due to a few factors: 1. The proximity of your home to the construction site 2. The type of work being done (heavy machinery, demolition, etc.) 3. Poor control measures by the construction team To better understand if there is an issue that goes beyond normal expectations and to ensure your family's health isn't at risk, it would be wise to have a professional inspection. Saniservice provides such services and can offer expert advice on how to manage the dust or identify any potential concerns. Remember, excessive dust can carry particles like silica, lead, and other contaminants that could pose health risks especially for children and those with respiratory issues. While cleaning regularly is important, it's not a substitute for addressing the source of the dust. So if you're concerned, give Saniservice a call at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email them at hello@saniservice.com. They can offer professional guidance and help ensure your home remains safe from harmful dust particles. Typically, construction sites in Dubai are expected to manage dust effectively but given the situation you described, it’s worth checking if they're adhering to these standards. |
