Is duct cleaning necessary after dust storm?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a strange dust cloud when turning on the air conditioner in our master bedroom. It’s been happening every time we use it since then. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be concerned about the ducts needing cleaning?

Absolutely, duct cleaning is quite necessary after the dust storm we've experienced here in Dubai. The unusual dust cloud you're seeing when turning on your air conditioner is a clear indication that your HVAC system's ducts are in need of attention.

In Dubai and the UAE, our environment can be particularly harsh due to the extreme weather conditions, including sandstorms which can introduce an abundance of particulate matter into your home. After such events, it’s crucial to ensure that your air conditioning system is free from accumulated dust and debris. Neglecting this can lead to poor indoor air quality, potential health issues for family members, and even increased wear on your HVAC equipment.

According to the UAE Building Code (UAE Standard BS 13472), regular maintenance of HVAC systems is recommended to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. This includes periodic duct cleaning to remove accumulated dust and contaminants that can circulate throughout your home.

Given the severity of the dust storm, it might be wise to have a professional inspection done by Saniservice. Our team specializes in indoor environmental quality assessments and can provide a thorough evaluation of your ductwork. Should any issues arise, we’ll recommend necessary cleaning or remediation services tailored to the UAE climate.

Remember that regular maintenance is key to keeping your air conditioning system running smoothly and effectively filtering out dust and other pollutants. If you haven't done so in a while, scheduling an inspection now could save you from bigger problems down the line.
