Is duct cleaning necessary after dust storms?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a thick layer of dirt collecting on our window sills in the living room. It’s really concerning because the storm was only two weeks ago, and the windows were all clean before that. The AC unit in my apartment has been running for more than 8 hours straight to keep up with the heat, but it still feels stuffy inside. Has anyone else experienced this after a dust storm? Should I consider having the ducts cleaned?

Yes, duct cleaning is indeed necessary after dust storms. In the UAE, especially during the intense dust storms we experience here, it's common to see a rapid accumulation of dirt and debris in your living space. The thick layer you noticed on your window sills could be from dust particles that got sucked into your air conditioning system before being distributed throughout your apartment.

In Dubai, our climate is quite unique due to the high temperatures and frequent sandstorms. These storms can carry significant amounts of dust and other particulates which easily find their way inside via open windows or through the HVAC system if it isn't properly sealed. The AC units running for more than 8 hours straight might not be enough to filter out all that additional dirt, leading to a feeling of stuffiness.

Professional duct cleaning can significantly improve your indoor air quality and comfort levels. It's recommended that you have your ducts inspected by an expert as soon as possible post-storm. This ensures that any trapped dust is removed effectively, preventing it from circulating back into the living space. The UAE building codes do not specifically require regular duct cleaning but given our environmental conditions, it’s a wise practice.

You might want to consider calling 800-MOLDS or emailing hello@saniservice.com for an inspection and cleaning service. They can provide detailed reports on your system's condition and recommend the best course of action.

Remember, keeping your air conditioning units well-maintained is crucial in Dubai’s harsh climate conditions. Regular checks and cleanings not only enhance comfort but also extend the lifespan of these expensive systems.

Taking proactive steps like this will help you maintain a healthier living environment amidst the challenges of our region's weather.
