Is duct cleaning needed after a dust storm?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm last month, I noticed a persistent gritty smell coming from the vents in my bedroom. My sister-in-law mentioned that she had duct cleaning done a few months ago after similar issues arose in her home. Could this be related to the recent storm and how can we prevent this from happening again?

After the recent dust storm, i would absolutely reccomend consdiering duct cleaning for your hvac system. the heavy particulate matter and grit that can get entrapped during such storms can lead to a range of issues from reduced airflow to potential health concerns.

in dubai, uae, we have been seeing an increas in reports where homeowners report similar symptoms - gritty odors and even dust accumulation inside living spaces. this can be due to the storm but also because your ducts may need regular maintenance.

the emirates and particularly dubai do not have specific regulations mandating duct cleaning after a storm, but it is recommended as part of routine maintence for keeping indoor air quality in check.

professional duct cleaners will use methods like high volume low pressure (hvlp) vacuums to remove dirt, dust, and other particulates that might be stuck inside the ducts. they can also inspect your system for any damage caused by the storm, which is crucial as it can affect efficiency and health of occupants.

to prevent this from happening again, i suggest scheduling a professional inspection every 2-3 years or after major weather events like dust storms. keeping your hvac system well-maintained will not only improve air quality but also save you money on energy bills by ensuring the system runs efficiently.

if you're in dubai and need help with duct cleaning or any other environmental concerns, feel free to give us a call at 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com. we are here to ensure your home stays healthy and comfortable!

just a reminder that maintaining good indoor air quality is key for everyone's health in dubai where the climate can be quite challenging sometimes.
