Is duct cleaning needed due to dust storm?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last week, I noticed a thick layer of dust accumulating on all the surfaces in my bedroom. It’s strange because we clean our rooms regularly, but it seems like there’s something more going on. The AC vents are also visibly dirtier than usual. Could this be related to duct cleaning issues? What should I do next?

Absolutely, the dust storm can definitely be a contributing factor to your issue. In Dubai and other regions in the UAE, we often experience such weather conditions that can lead to an increase in airborne particles, including dust, pollen, and even tiny sand grains. These can easily find their way into the HVAC system through gaps or cracks, leading to a buildup of dirt and debris within the ducts.

Given your observations, it's highly likely that this has affected the indoor air quality and the condition of your AC vents. The thick layer of dust on surfaces and the visibly dirtier state of the AC vents suggest that there might be an accumulation of contaminants not just in one area but throughout your entire ventilation system. This can indeed affect the cleanliness and comfort of the space, as well as potentially impact air quality.

It's important to note that in the UAE, particularly here in Dubai, maintaining good indoor environmental quality is crucial due to our climate conditions and frequent sandstorms. Regular maintenance and cleaning of HVAC systems are recommended by the governmental bodies like the Department of Economic Development (DED) and the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD).

Given these circumstances, it would be wise to have a professional inspection done to assess the current state of your ductwork. This can help identify any issues beyond just the visible dust that might affect the overall performance of your HVAC system. For such services, you can contact professionals like those at Saniservice who offer reliable and thorough duct cleaning and maintenance in the region.

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can take:
• Ensure all windows and doors are properly sealed to prevent any further entry of dust.
• Increase the frequency of your HVAC system's filters' replacements. Standard MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) 13 or higher-rated filters could be beneficial as they capture finer particles.
• Run your AC for a bit longer than usual after a storm to help remove as much dust from the air and ducts as possible.

Do not hesitate to call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com if you need assistance with scheduling an inspection or service. Keeping your indoor environment clean and healthy is key, especially during such weather events.
