Is dust from construction harming my family?« Back to Previous Page

After the recent construction work next door, our living room has been filled with a constant cloud of dust. Even when we try to keep the windows closed, the floor and even the furniture in there are always covered in this fine, gray powder. My kids have been coughing more than usual lately, and I’m worried it might be from all this dust. Should I consider getting an air purifier or is there something else I can do?

Dust from construction can indeed pose health risks to your family. The continuous exposure to fine particulate matter like the gray powder you mentioned could trigger respiratory issues, especially for kids and those with existing allergies or asthma. In dubai, uae regulations like the ones set by the Dubai Municipality require dust management during construction projects but it's possible that not all safety measures are being followed due to nearby work.

Firstly, i'd recommend setting up an air purifier in your living room. Air purifiers with HEPA filters can effectively capture and remove a majority of fine particulates from the air, including those harmful dust particles. Make sure to choose one that suits the size of your space; for a typical living room, you might want a unit with at least 300 square feet coverage.

Secondly, i strongly advise you get in touch with a professional environmental inspection service like ours here at Saniservice. They can conduct an assessment and provide more specific guidance based on your situation. Our team can also offer solutions for managing dust beyond the air purifier such as sealing off affected areas or providing temporary barriers to prevent further dust intrusion.

Additionally, regular cleaning is crucial. Use a damp cloth when wiping surfaces to avoid stirring up more dust into the air. Opening windows just for short periods (on days with low dust levels) can also help clear out some of the settled dust.

Remember, your health and that of your family's is paramount. If you notice any worsening symptoms in yourself or your children, it’s best to consult a healthcare professional without delay.

Call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com if you need assistance with professional inspection services or further guidance on managing the dust situation at home.
