Is HVAC related to dust despite good sealing?« Back to Previous Page
|
After the recent renovation of our kitchen, I noticed a lot of dust particles floating around even with the windows open. It's pretty concerning because we’re on the second floor, so it’s not like there are many entry points for dirt. Given that the HVAC system in our flat is quite old, could this be related? Should I try cleaning the ducts myself or would it be better to hire a professional?

Absolutely HVAC systems can be a significant source of dust and dirt, even if your flat is well sealed. In the UAE, especially Dubai, our climate conditions like high humidity during summer and dryness in winter can cause moisture to settle inside ducts and condense into fine particles that eventually end up circulating through your system.
Your old HVAC could indeed be the culprit here. As it ages, components may wear down, leading to an accumulation of dirt and debris within the ductwork. This isn't uncommon, especially with systems over 10 years old like yours might be if they're quite dated. Over time, this buildup can not only contribute to poor indoor air quality but also reduce your HVAC's efficiency. Given that you've recently renovated your kitchen, it’s understandable why dust particles may be more noticeable now. However, it’s important to remember that these particles could have been there all along just waiting for the right conditions or disturbance to become an issue. DIY duct cleaning isn't advisable unless you're experienced and equipped with the proper tools and protective gear. In Dubai, we recommend professional inspection and cleaning due to the complex nature of HVAC systems and their components. Professionals like us at Saniservice use state-of-the-art equipment such as high-velocity vacuums, brushes, and cameras which can reach even the tightest corners of your ductwork. Moreover, in the UAE, it's crucial to follow local regulations and standards for environmental health. Ensuring that any cleaning or maintenance work adheres to these guidelines is important not just from a legal perspective but also for maintaining optimal indoor air quality for you and your family. Don't worry though - we offer a range of services including professional duct cleaning, HVAC inspections, and remediation.
