Is mold making my kids sick?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy rains last month, I noticed a layer of mold growing on the ceiling tiles in our living room. The cleaning staff has been here twice this week, but it doesn’t seem to be making much difference. My kids have been coughing more frequently since we started noticing the mold, and I’m really worried about their health. Have any of you experienced similar issues with mold and had effective solutions?

Mold can indeed be problematic for your family's health, especially with the increase of coughing in your kids. Mold exposure is linked to a range of respiratory issues such as allergies and asthma exacerbations. The UAE has specific regulations regarding indoor environmental quality which are aimed at ensuring buildings are safe and healthy places to live and work.

In Dubai/UAE, it’s important to take mold seriously. If you're noticing its growth on ceiling tiles or elsewhere in your home, a professional inspection is highly recommended. This will help identify the source of moisture that's allowing the mold to grow and ensure proper remediation techniques are applied. Mold issues can escalate quickly without appropriate attention.

Have you considered calling 800-MOLDS or emailing hello@saniservice.com? These professionals can provide you with a thorough assessment and recommend effective solutions. They will not only clean up the existing mold but also address any underlying moisture problems that may be contributing to its growth, which is crucial for preventing future outbreaks.

It’s also beneficial to keep an eye on indoor humidity levels. In Dubai/UAE, it's common to experience higher humidity during summer months or after rain events like you've had recently. Using dehumidifiers and ensuring good ventilation can help manage moisture levels in your home.

Regular cleaning by the cleaning staff is a good start but might not be enough if mold has already established itself. Mold spores are microscopic and can easily spread, making it difficult to remove them without proper tools and techniques. Professional remediation usually involves specialized equipment like air scrubbers and negative air pressure machines to contain the mold during cleanup.

Remember, your health and that of your family's is paramount, so don't hesitate to seek professional advice when dealing with such issues. The earlier you act, the better it will be for everyone’s well-being.
