Is old air purifier filter causing dust smells?« Back to Previous Page

After the recent sandstorms, I noticed a peculiar smell coming from the kitchen area where the air purifier is located. Every time I turn it on, there’s a bit of dust being kicked up, and now I can actually taste it in the air. The filter seems old, but I’m not sure if that’s causing the issue or if something else is going wrong. Should I replace the filter immediately to prevent any further issues?

Yes, the old air purifier filter might be causing those dust smells and tastes. In Dubai/UAE, particulate matter from sandstorms can indeed get trapped within a filter, leading to an accumulation of particles that are then released back into the air when you turn on your purifier. This is one of the reasons why it’s crucial to regularly inspect and replace filters.

In the UAE, we've seen firsthand how sandstorm events can exacerbate indoor air quality issues. The fine particulate matter from these storms can settle in your filter and then be dispersed back into your living space once you activate the purifier again. The taste you're experiencing could very well be from those particles that have sat undisturbed for a while.

Given the recent sandstorms, it would be wise to check the condition of your air purifier's filters. If they are old or heavily soiled, replacing them immediately can help alleviate the smell and prevent further issues. Look out for signs like dust accumulation, discolouration, or if there’s an obvious build-up that looks like dirt or sand.

However, it wouldn't hurt to get a professional inspection as well. Here at Saniservice, we recommend having your air purifier's filter checked by our professionals. They can assess the condition accurately and ensure you’re using the right type of filter for the high particulate load during stormy seasons like this one in Dubai.

Remember, maintaining good indoor air quality is key to a healthy living environment. If the smell persists or if you experience any other issues, don’t hesitate to contact us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for further assistance.

Stay well!
