Is poor duct cleaning linked to our symptoms?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been noticing a persistent cough and sneezing every time I come back from running in the evening. The worst part is, my son has also started complaining about his throat and it’s getting quite concerning. Is there any risk to our health due to poor duct cleaning in this area? Should we be concerned about mold or allergens trapped in the HVAC system that might be causing these symptoms?

Absolutely, poor duct cleaning can indeed be linked to your symptoms. In the UAE and specifically Dubai, where we have experienced recent dust storms, it's quite plausible that fine particulates like dust, pollen, and even mold spores could find their way into your home’s HVAC system and remain there undetected for months or even years.

In Dubai, as in many cities around the world, environmental conditions can significantly impact indoor air quality. After a storm like the one you've mentioned, it's not uncommon to see an increase in airborne particles that can settle on the ductwork of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. These particles can then get distributed throughout your home with every cycle of the HVAC, leading to symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, and throat irritation.

In the UAE, duct cleaning is not a regulated process, but it's highly recommended for maintaining good indoor air quality. Given that your family has started experiencing these health issues, it might be wise to have an inspection done by a professional. Not only can they check for visible contaminants like dust and debris, but they can also look out for more insidious issues such as mold growth which is particularly prevalent in humid conditions.

I recommend reaching out to Saniservice at 800-66537 or emailing hello@saniservice.com for a thorough inspection. They have the expertise to not only clean your ducts but also to identify any potential sources of contamination and provide solutions tailored to your specific situation.

Remember, regular maintenance is key in keeping your indoor air fresh and healthy. In Dubai’s climate, it's advisable to have your HVAC system checked at least once a year to ensure optimal performance and reduce the risk of respiratory issues for you and your family.

In summary, while there isn't any direct regulation about duct cleaning in the UAE, taking proactive steps to clean your systems can greatly improve indoor air quality. So please don’t hesitate to contact a professional service to address these concerns.
