Should I be concerned about the musty smell?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy rain last month, I noticed a musty smell coming from under the storage cabinets in the guest room. We’ve lived here for two years and just noticed this, but I’m not sure if it’s related to the warehouse next door or something else. Should I be concerned about the cleanliness of the warehouse in our rental space?

Absolutely, the musty smell emanating from under your storage cabinets could be a serious matter. In Dubai and throughout the UAE, it's common for such odors to indicate moisture-related issues which can lead to mold growth or other microbial contamination. Given that you've noticed this only after the heavy rain last month, it suggests that water intrusion might have occurred during those rainy days.

In our region, buildings are particularly prone to such problems due to our hot and humid climate. Warehouses next to residential areas can sometimes pose risks as they may store items that could release moisture or harbor allergens. However, without a professional inspection, it's hard to pinpoint the exact cause of the smell.

I would definitely recommend having your space professionally inspected by an environmental expert familiar with local conditions. They will be able to identify any mold growth and assess the overall indoor air quality. If you are concerned about the cleanliness or potential contamination in the adjacent warehouse, you might also want to reach out to their management for a professional evaluation.

Here at Saniservice, we offer comprehensive mold inspections and remediation services tailored for the local climate. Our experts can help identify sources of moisture, assess the current state of your indoor environment, and recommend appropriate solutions if necessary. Don't hesitate to contact us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for a consultation.

Remember, addressing such issues promptly can prevent more serious health problems and costly repairs down the line. It's better to take proactive measures rather than waiting until the smell gets worse.
