Should I clean AC filters or seek help?« Back to Previous Page

After the recent sandstorm, I noticed a faint smell of dust lingering in the air conditioning system in the living room. It’s been at least two weeks since we cleaned the filters last, but now I’m wondering if it’s time to replace them again or if there’s something else causing this odor. Can someone who’s replaced filters before give me some advice on whether I can handle this myself or if a professional is needed?

Absolutely, i'd recommend you check the filters first before jumping into any major actions. in dubai and the uae, we often face such scenarios post sandstorms. if your unit has been running for at least two weeks since last cleaning, it's possible that the filters might be clogged with dust or fine particles from the recent storm.

first things first, take a close look at the filters to see their condition. if they appear visibly dirty, you can probably give them a good wash and reinstall them. make sure to follow local regulations, which in the uae generally suggest cleaning the filters every 30-60 days or as needed. for diy filter cleaning, simply remove the filters from your ac unit (most units have a cover that pops off), rinse them with water, let them dry thoroughly, and put them back.

however, if you notice any strange odors, persistent dust, or see visible damage to the filters, it might be time to seek professional help. in such cases, i recommend calling 800-MOLDS or emailing hello@saniservice.com for a thorough inspection. professionals can identify not just the source of the odor but also other potential issues like mold growth, which is more common after sandstorms.

remember that regular maintenance is key to keeping your ac system running efficiently and effectively in our climate here in dubai. don't hesitate to reach out if you're unsure about anything or want expert advice on how to keep your home's air quality top-notch.

always ensure that any service provider you hire follows the latest safety protocols and uses eco-friendly cleaning products, as this is particularly important in the uae where environmental concerns are increasingly being addressed.
