Should I clean ducts or hire professionals?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storms we had a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a lot more dust accumulating in all the corners of my apartment, especially around the vents. The bedroom in particular seems to get hit the hardest, with a noticeable amount of debris in there. Should I consider hiring professionals for duct cleaning or is this something that might be better handled by me?

Absolutely, the dust storms we've been experiencing can indeed kick up significant amounts of particulate matter that ends up inside your ductwork. In Dubai and UAE generally, it's quite common for such events to cause an increase in indoor air pollutants. The bedroom you mentioned - with its high concentration of debris - could be a clear sign that your ducts need thorough cleaning.

In the UAE, especially during these dusty periods, the importance of keeping your HVAC system clean cannot be overstated. Dust and other particulates can accumulate over time, affecting not only the air quality but also the efficiency of your AC units. This could lead to higher energy bills as well as potential damage to components within the ductwork.

Given that you've noticed an increase in dust levels post-dust storms, it might be wise to consider having professionals inspect and clean your ducts. They can assess the extent of the contamination and provide a proper cleaning schedule moving forward. Professional duct cleaners have the necessary tools and expertise to ensure thorough cleaning without causing damage to your system.

If you choose to go with a professional service, call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com for expert assistance. These professionals will use specialized equipment like vacuums designed specifically for ductwork and might even recommend a disinfection process if necessary.

However, if the debris isn't too extensive, you can attempt to clean your ducts yourself with some caution. Use a vacuum cleaner equipped with an HEPA filter to suction out visible debris from the vents and access points. Just make sure to wear protective gear like gloves and masks while doing so.

Remember, regular cleaning is key to maintaining good indoor air quality. In Dubai, we recommend having your ductwork inspected annually or after major weather events such as sandstorms.

Taking action now could greatly improve the comfort and health of you and your family in your apartment.
