Should I clean dust storm debris myself or hire pros?« Back to Previous Page

After the intense dust storm we had last week, I’ve been finding a lot of debris stuck in our carpet and furniture. The living room especially is quite dirty, with layers of dust that seem almost impossible to clean without getting down on my hands and knees for hours. My kids are starting to complain about breathing problems which might be due to the dust as well. Should I consider hiring professional cleaning services or can this be handled by me?

Absolutely, the dust storm debris is quite a task but depending on how bad it got, you might consider hiring professionals to help. In dubai, we do have some specific regulations regarding indoor air quality, and cleaning up after such an event can be challenging.

If you decide to go the DIY route, start by gathering your supplies. You'll need a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter, microfiber cloths, and a good mop or damp cloth for hard surfaces. For carpets, use a steam cleaner if possible – it's more effective at removing deep-seated dirt than regular vacuums.

Ventilation is key! Open windows to let fresh air in and reduce the concentration of dust. Be mindful though - outdoor conditions can be pretty dusty too, so you might want to do this during low wind periods or in the evening when dust settles a bit.

For the living room, start with the furniture. Dust off surfaces gently before vacuuming underneath them. Make sure to check for any embedded debris that might need more attention than your regular cleaning routine would provide. You can also use a damp cloth to wipe down surfaces, but be careful not to over-saturate anything.

If you find yourself overwhelmed or if you notice persistent respiratory issues among family members, it may be wise to call in the pros. Professional cleaning services are well-equipped and trained for such tasks, ensuring thoroughness and efficiency. They can also assess your home’s indoor air quality and recommend any necessary remediation steps based on UAE standards.

Remember, maintaining good indoor air quality is crucial, especially after events like dust storms. Regular deep cleans can help prevent build-up of allergens and pollutants that might affect health.

If you do consider hiring professionals, don't hesitate to ask for references or check reviews. At Saniservice, we offer comprehensive cleaning services tailored to the needs of UAE homes. Feel free to contact us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com if you need any assistance.
