Should I complain more about dust?« Back to Previous Page
|
After the recent construction next door, there's a persistent layer of dust settling on everything in my living room windowsill. It's gotten so bad that even when I wipe it off, it’s back within hours. My landlord has been quite busy with other properties and hasn't shown much interest in addressing this issue yet. Has anyone else experienced similar problems or do you think I should bring this up again with the landlord?

It sounds like the dust issue is indeed becoming quite bothersome. In Dubai and the UAE, there are strict regulations regarding indoor air quality due to the frequent construction activities that can lead to high levels of particulate matter. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the UAE has set guidelines for acceptable levels of airborne particles to ensure public health isn't compromised.
Firstly, it's important to understand why the dust is accumulating so quickly. There are a few possible reasons: firstly, the construction site might not be properly enclosed or its dust control measures may be insufficient. Secondly, the air filtration systems in your building could be inadequate. Lastly, the prevailing wind patterns and local atmospheric conditions can also play a role. Considering you've already tried wiping it off but to no avail, I would recommend bringing this up again with your landlord. However, before you do, make sure to gather evidence such as photos or videos of the dust accumulation over time. This will help strengthen your case and show that the problem is persistent and significant. Additionally, it might be beneficial for you to request a professional environmental inspection from a company like Saniservice who can assess the situation objectively. They have experience with similar issues in the region and their report could serve as an authoritative document when discussing the matter with your landlord. If the dust levels continue to rise or if you start noticing any health issues, it might be wise to contact the relevant authorities for advice. The Dubai Municipality has a complaints portal where you can file a formal complaint regarding environmental concerns. Remember, persistence is key here. While your landlord may have been busy with other properties, they are responsible for maintaining a healthy living environment for their tenants. Don't hesitate to follow up and remind them of the issue if necessary. Lastly, consider using HEPA filters or air purifiers in your home temporarily while this issue gets resolved, as these can significantly help reduce dust levels indoors.
