Should I focus on AC or bathroom first?« Back to Previous Page

After the rain last month, I noticed a mildew spot growing on the ceiling of my bedroom. The AC in my apartment seems to be struggling to keep up with the humidity, even when it’s not particularly hot outside. My kids have been coughing more frequently lately and I suspect it might be due to poor indoor air quality. Should I start by cleaning the bathroom tiles more frequently or is there something else I should focus on first?

Cleaning up the bathroom tiles may be something you should consider doing first but i'd suggest prioritizing your air conditioner (AC) system. In dubai and the uae, humidity can really affect indoor air quality and the performance of your ac unit is key to maintaining a healthy living environment.

in our region, it's crucial to ensure that your ac is functioning properly, especially during those humid months. mildew and mold can thrive in damp conditions, which could be contributing to your kids' coughing issues. if your ac isn't effectively removing moisture from the air, this might explain why you're seeing a mildew spot on your bedroom ceiling.

i'd recommend starting with a thorough inspection of your ac system. check for any water leaks or condensation issues that could be leading to increased humidity in your home. make sure the filters are clean and not clogged; dirty filters can lead to mold growth and poor air circulation.

once you've ensured your ac is in top condition, then focus on cleaning up the bathroom tiles. bathrooms are notorious for harboring moisture which can lead to mold growth if left unchecked. use a good quality cleaner that contains mold-killing agents to clean around sinks, showers, and toilets where water tends to pool or splash.

but don't stop there! it's also important to ensure you're using proper ventilation in your bathroom. installing an exhaust fan or opening windows after showering can help reduce moisture levels and prevent the growth of mold.

if you find that mold is present or if you suspect your air quality issues may be more serious, i'd recommend reaching out for a professional inspection. here at saniservice, we offer comprehensive indoor environmental inspections to identify and address any potential issues in your home or office space. our team can help assess the situation and provide recommendations based on local uae regulations.
