Should I hire a pro to clean and regrout bathroom tiles?« Back to Previous Page

The grout between the tiles in our Jumeirah villa's master bathroom has gone from light grey to almost black, and no matter how much I scrub with bleach, it won't come out. We had a big family stay over during Eid and the humidity from all the showers seems to have made it much worse. Is it worth hiring a professional cleaning company for this, and what should I expect to pay for a deep clean and regrouting for a bathroom this size?

Based on your description, this is a classic and very common issue in Dubai villas, especially after periods of high occupancy and humidity like Eid. The black discoloration you're seeing is almost certainly not surface dirt but a deep-seated mold or mildew growth thriving within the porous grout itself. The constant high humidity, combined with our dusty environment and year-round AC usage creating condensation, provides the perfect breeding ground for microbial growth. Bleach often fails because it only whitens the surface temporarily without addressing the root colony inside the grout.

For a villa in Jumeirah, hiring a professional is strongly recommended. Scrubbing further can degrade the grout, making the problem worse. A reputable company won't just clean; they will assess the integrity of the grout and the waterproofing behind the tiles. In many cases, a professional hygienization service using industrial-grade, EPA-approved disinfectants and steam cleaning can penetrate and kill the microbial growth, restoring the original color without the need for full regrouting.

If the grout is cracked or crumbling, however, a full removal and regrouting service is necessary to prevent moisture ingress that can damage the underlying wall structure—a serious violation of Dubai Municipality's health and safety standards for residential buildings.

For a master bathroom, expect a professional deep clean and disinfecting service to start from AED 600-900. If regrouting is required, the cost will depend on the square footage but typically ranges from AED 1,500 to AED 3,000+, including materials and labor.
