Should I worry about duct cleaning?« Back to Previous Page

Since we moved into our new apartment a year ago, I’ve noticed a persistent dust cloud every time the air conditioning kicks on. The master bedroom, which is right next to the AC unit, seems to get the worst of it. My kids have been complaining about coughing and sneezing more often since winter hit, and I’m starting to wonder if there’s something seriously wrong with our ducts. Have any of you had similar issues or concerns, and what did you do about it?

Absolutely, it's understandable to be concerned about the air quality in your new home. In Dubai and the UAE, our climate often calls for heavy usage of air conditioning systems, which can indeed lead to issues like dust accumulation within ducts. Persistent dust clouds every time the AC kicks on is a clear sign that your system might need attention.

In the UAE, particularly in places like Dubai where we experience high temperatures and humidity, regular maintenance of HVAC systems is crucial for both comfort and health. The local regulations do not require mandatory duct cleaning but recommend it as part of routine maintenance to ensure proper air quality and efficient operation of AC units.

Given your symptoms and concerns about dust particles affecting your family's well-being, especially with the increase in coughing and sneezing during winter, I would strongly advise you to schedule a professional inspection of your ductwork. Ducts that aren’t cleaned regularly can harbor allergens, bacteria, mold spores, and other pollutants which could contribute to respiratory issues.

During a professional inspection, experts will check for debris accumulation, moisture levels, and signs of mold growth. They might also recommend cleaning based on the extent of contamination found. It's important to choose a reputable company that adheres to safety standards and uses appropriate equipment for thorough cleaning.

Here are some steps you can take:
1. Contact a local HVAC service provider known for their expertise in ductwork.
2. Ask about the specific methods they use for cleaning, ensuring they follow guidelines set by organizations such as NADCA (North American Duct Cleaning Association).
3. Find out if they offer before and after air quality tests to measure improvements.

If you're looking for a reliable service, consider calling 800-MOLDS or emailing hello@saniservice.com. They are known for their professionalism in handling such issues with care and precision.

Remember, maintaining good indoor air quality is key to keeping your family healthy, especially during colder months when the use of AC increases. Don't hesitate to act if you sense something's not right with your home's air system.
