Should we clean house ducts after dust storm?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a thick layer of debris on our bedroom windowsills. It got me thinking about all the vents and ducts in the house that haven’t been cleaned since we moved in two years ago. The AC in particular has been running louder than usual. Have any of you experienced similar issues and should we consider having our ducts cleaned?

Absolutely, it's a wise idea to consider having your ducts cleaned after experiencing a dust storm. In Dubai and the UAE, we've seen similar issues arise post-storm where an increased amount of debris gets into the air conditioning system. The recent heavy dust storm definitely adds fuel to the fire for needing a thorough inspection and cleaning.

In the UAE, especially in areas like Dubai, regulations around indoor environmental quality are becoming more stringent. For instance, the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) recommends regular maintenance and inspections of HVAC systems to ensure they meet standards set by their guidelines. Given your AC has been running louder than usual and you've noticed a thick layer of debris on windowsills, it's highly recommended that you have a professional inspection done.

Firstly, check the filters in your air conditioning system. Dirty or clogged filters can trap dust and other particles which then get circulated through the ducts. Replace them if necessary. Next, look for visible signs of mold or mildew growth in your vents or around your AC unit. Mold thrives in damp conditions and excessive dust; if you see any, it's essential to address this promptly.

Now, for a professional clean, companies like Saniservice can do the job thoroughly. They use specialized equipment that can effectively remove accumulated debris from both the ducts and the air handling units without causing damage. A deep clean can not only improve the efficiency of your AC but also enhance indoor air quality, making it healthier to breathe.

Remember, neglecting duct cleaning can lead to increased energy bills due to your AC working harder to cool your home, as well as potential health issues from allergens and pollutants being circulated through the air. So, don't delay! Give us a call at 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection today.

And remember, with dust storms on the horizon, regular maintenance can save you headaches in the long run. Keep those ducts clean and your home's air quality will thank you for it!
