When to clean after dust storms?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storms this summer, I’ve noticed a thick layer of dust on every surface in the living room. It’s overwhelming, especially since we had guests over last weekend and now everything looks so dirty. Given how urgent it is to get things back to normal before school starts in a few weeks, should I clean immediately or can I wait until the weather improves?

Cleaning after dust storms can be quite the chore, especially considering all the extra dust that accumulates. In Dubai and other parts of the UAE, dust storms are a common occurrence during summer months. It's understandable to feel overwhelmed when you see everything covered in a thick layer of dirt. However, before diving into immediate cleaning, there are some considerations worth pondering.

Firstly, it’s important to recognize that regular cleaning is essential for maintaining good indoor air quality and a healthy environment. In the UAE, regulations such as those outlined by the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) emphasize the importance of clean indoor spaces in reducing dust particles which can negatively impact health, especially during allergy seasons.

Given your situation, I would recommend that you begin cleaning as soon as possible to avoid accumulation and maintain a fresh environment. Use a microfiber cloth or damp cloths for wiping surfaces; they are effective at picking up fine dust without leaving streaks. For hard-to-reach areas like ceiling fans and light fixtures, consider using an extendable duster.

If the amount of dust is so overwhelming that you feel it might be beyond your means to clean efficiently, or if you notice any mold growth due to excess moisture from the storms, it would be wise to seek professional assistance. At Saniservice, we specialize in such situations and can provide thorough cleaning and remediation services.

Additionally, consider scheduling a professional environmental inspection post-storms. This will ensure that no hidden issues are present that could affect your health or property over time. Our team at Saniservice is equipped to handle these inspections and can offer solutions for any concerns you may have.

Remember to keep an eye on the weather forecast; if another storm is expected soon, try to finish your cleaning before the next dust settles. This will save you from having to repeat the process later. Keeping a regular maintenance schedule will help prevent such situations in the future too.

Lastly, don’t forget that regular cleaning with a HEPA filter vacuum cleaner or air purifier can significantly help in reducing indoor dust levels. This will not only make the cleaning process easier but also keep your living space healthier for longer periods between storms.
