Who cleans dust in personal workspace?« Back to Previous Page
|
After the heavy dust storm we had last week, I noticed a layer of fine dust on all the windowsills and even in some of the drawers in my office space. The landlord usually handles cleaning, but I’m not sure if this counts as a common area or if it’s part of our responsibilities since it’s within my personal workspace. Could anyone advise on who typically cleans these areas in Dubai?

In the UAE, particularly in Dubai, the cleaning responsibilities for personal workspace areas can sometimes get murky. Based on standard commercial agreements and local regulations like those found in the Labor Law and Commercial Tenancy Agreements, it is generally expected that landlords are responsible for common areas such as hallways, elevators, lobbies, and other shared spaces. However, when it comes to individual workspaces or personal offices, cleaning duties can vary.
Typically, the tenant (or the office occupants) are responsible for maintaining their own workspace including dusting, vacuuming, and tidying up. This would cover areas like your desk, drawers, windowsills, and any private storage spaces. If you notice a significant layer of dust on these personal areas after an event like the recent dust storm, it may be time to reach out to your landlord or property management for clarification. Now, here’s where things can get a bit tricky. In some cases, especially in larger office spaces, landlords might subcontract cleaning services that cover both common and private areas, but this is not always standard practice. If you’re unsure about the specific terms of your lease agreement, it's wise to review it or contact your landlord directly for clarification. For peace of mind and to ensure a thorough clean-up following such events, I recommend considering professional indoor environmental inspections. These can help identify any potential issues related to dust and air quality that might not be immediately obvious. If you decide to go this route, you could contact Saniservice by calling 800-MOLDS or emailing hello@saniservice.com. They specialize in providing comprehensive cleaning services as well as mold inspection and remediation. Remember, maintaining a clean workspace is crucial for productivity and health. If you're not comfortable tackling the dust yourself or if it's been a while since your office was thoroughly cleaned, don’t hesitate to ask for professional help. |
