Who's responsible for cleaning HVAC ducts?« Back to Previous Page

After the rain last month, I noticed a weird odor coming from the vents in my living room. My landlord hasn't mentioned anything about cleaning the ducts, and I'm not sure if it's included in the maintenance or if we're responsible for it ourselves. Has anyone here experienced something similar and what did you do?

The responsibility for duct cleaning often depends on the local laws and agreements between landlord and tenant. In dubai/Uae, there is no specific regulation mandating who should clean HVAC ducts, but it's a good practice to have them cleaned every 2-3 years especially in areas that experience extreme weather conditions like rain. If you notice unusual odors or see visible dirt accumulation, it might be time for a professional inspection.

In my experience, many landlords prefer to handle the maintenance of HVAC systems including duct cleaning as part of their regular upkeep. However, it's crucial to review your lease agreement to ensure what is covered and if there are any specific terms related to duct cleaning. If your contract doesn’t mention this or is unclear, i'd recommend reaching out to your landlord for clarification.

Should you decide that the vents in your living room need attention due to that weird odor, it's wise to call a professional. Service providers like Saniservice can offer a thorough inspection and cleaning if needed. Remember, dirty HVAC ducts can harbor mold, dust mites, and other allergens which might affect indoor air quality.

Given your situation, i'd suggest scheduling an inspection with a local company that specializes in HVAC maintenance. They will be able to assess the condition of your ductwork and advise on whether cleaning is necessary. If you need help or have questions about this process, feel free to contact us at 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com. We're here to ensure your home remains a healthy living space.

Always prioritize indoor air quality as it directly impacts the well-being of you and your family. Taking proactive steps like regular HVAC maintenance can go a long way in maintaining a comfortable, safe environment.
