Is cleaning data behind furniture dangerous?« Back to Previous Page

We've been in our Dubai villa for about a year now and I just discovered what looks like cleaning data behind some furniture. Is this dangerous and do I need to move out during treatment?

Hey there! Glad to help. Cleaning data behind furniture is quite common and generally not dangerous unless the substance poses risks like asbestos or mold spores. But, you need to be cautious especially here in Dubai where we have specific regulations for indoor environmental quality.

Firstly, it's important to identify what exactly that "cleaning data" is. If it appears dry and harmless-looking, most likely it’s just cleaning residue or dust. However, if it seems damp, fibrous, or looks like it could be something more serious like asbestos insulation, you should definitely seek professional help.

Asbestos was commonly used in construction materials before the 1990s and if present, can pose health risks when disturbed. In the UAE, according to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), any suspected asbestos must be handled by a licensed company that complies with local regulations for safe removal. So, if you're unsure or worried, it's wise to call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com for an inspection.

If your villa was built after the 1990s and there’s no known asbestos used in its construction, chances are that data is just old cleaning supplies or debris. In such cases, you can carefully clean it up yourself with proper precautions like wearing gloves and a mask to avoid inhaling any particles.

Mold growth behind furniture could be another concern but given the climate here in Dubai, mold is less likely unless there's been some water damage recently. If you notice any mold growth or suspect moisture issues, professional inspection would be beneficial to prevent health problems.

In general, keeping your indoor environment clean and well-maintained is key for a healthy living space. Regular cleaning and maintaining good ventilation can help reduce the risk of mold and other contaminants.

If you're still unsure about what you found or if it might need special treatment, don't hesitate to call our team at 800-66537 or email hello@saniservice.com for a consultation. We’re here to help ensure your home remains safe and healthy!

Take care!
