Could duct issues cause our health problems?« Back to Previous Page

After the heavy dust storm we had last month, I noticed a lingering gritty feeling when I wake up in the morning. The AC vent in my bedroom seems to be blowing out more than usual, and there’s this faint smell of mold that’s been bothering me for weeks now. My kids have also been complaining about persistent coughing, especially at night. Could this be related to duct issues? What should we do first?

Could duct issues cause our health problems? Well, i think it's definitely possible. Ducts that haven't been cleaned in a while can accumulate dust, mold spores, and other allergens which can certainly contribute to respiratory issues like coughing and the lingering gritty feeling you're experiencing.

In dubai, we've had some pretty harsh weather conditions recently with those dust storms. It's not uncommon for such events to kick up more airborne particulates that could find their way into your ductwork. The faint smell of mold you mentioned is a big red flag too as it could indicate moisture issues which often go hand in hand with poor air quality.

First things first, i would really recommend giving your ventilation system a thorough check-up. The uae has its own set of environmental regulations and standards for indoor air quality but it's always good to ensure that your systems are up to scratch especially after such adverse weather events.

Calling 800-MOLDS or emailing hello@saniservice.com could be the best move here. They're local experts with a deep understanding of the specific challenges in dubai and can provide professional cleaning, inspection, and remediation services if needed. Their expertise is crucial to pinpointing the exact cause of your issues.

In the meantime, try to keep windows and doors closed tightly especially during dusty weather conditions. It might help reduce further contamination into your home. Also, consider running a portable air purifier in your bedroom; this can provide some immediate relief while you get things sorted out with your HVAC system.

Remember, maintaining good indoor air quality is key for everyone's health and particularly important for kids who are more susceptible to respiratory issues. So, getting those ducts cleaned and inspected as soon as possible could go a long way in improving the overall comfort of your home.

Hope this helps!
